North of “Boca” is flat water protected by an outside reef. The water is clear and the colours created by the reef are mind blowing! If you are on a short freestyle fin and know you won’t fall off your board it’s possible to manoeuvre your way through a narrow channel in the reef from “Boca” to the flat water spot. Otherwise it’s recommended you just walk along the beach. The coral heads may look cool, but keep in mind they are often just below the surface. In fact you’ll notice dry reef is exposed in many areas, particularly at lower tides, so keep your eyes open when you’re sailing, as it can be very dangerous! Due to the size of the spot and depth of the water you need a short fin, and you’re limited to short reaches – freestyle heaven! As soon as there are a few people in the “pool” it gets crowded, so don’t text all your friends. Keep in mind this is the back yard and training ground of top kitesurfer Annabel van Westerop, so if you’re flashed a beautiful smile then witness a jaw dropping handle pass, enjoy the show and stay out of the way!
