THE NORTH
Heading NW from “Boca” there aren’t any known windsurf launches. The coast is mostly reef and rock with steep water entry. The shore is dotted with isolated beaches, natural bridges and pools, and a few surf spots. However, once you reach the lighthouse on the north end of the island you’ll find two wave-oriented spots – “The Dunes” and “West Point”.
“West Point” is a starboard-tack wave spot. If the swell is big enough it wraps around the point and creates down-the-line wave riding conditions. Best to get a local to show you the spot as your first bottom turn can be around a rock. You’ll need either a few days of really strong wind or a ground swell to bring this spot to life. Look for waves forecast over 2 metres before checking it out there.
