PRELUDE
Robby no doubt has a busy schedule, combining family life, with running a huge business empire, media commitments plus squeezing in windsurfing, SUP and kite time on the water. So when I sent in my request for an interview I knew I would have to take any chance that came my way. Sure enough Robby, professional as ever offered to meet me a couple of weeks before his big 50 birthday and the meeting was pencilled in the diary. After a couple of calls on the given day, Robby informed me that he was in Paia, very close to where I was staying and he could pop round in fifteen minutes. Cue one mother of a panic! After ten days of stressful photo shooting sharing a tiny room with Scottie McKercher, I took one look at the mess in our room and realized what an embarrassing state we had been living in. Empty cases of Beer, bottles and cans all over the place, dirty dishes, overflowing un-emptied trash cans, an empty fridge (aside from a six pack and some lemons) and no toilet roll in the dunny. For the next fourteen minutes did the fastest ever room clean and managed to hide the beer bottles just in time before Robby rolled up our drive in a shining black pick up. All I could offer for refreshment was an icy cold beer which he politely declined…any roads, here is how the interview went!… JC
