Were some of your moves in La Torche in the heat of the moment?
In starboard tack I have been doing push loops for many years now. I had never tried the tweaked push loop. It was the competition and everybody was on fire, making doubles and tweaked push loops. I felt I had to step up a little bit; I was just in the moment! I can do a tweaked backside air, which is kind of the same as a tweaked push loop. I was just going into my push loops and trying the tweaks. That is what I love about competition. It really pushes me to sail better. I think my best sailing comes out in a competition. All the trips I did and all the freesailing helped me get my level of windsurfing but now with the competition I can really keep pushing. I would not do it if I was not in the heat of competition. You need that zone to make the difference and push yourself beyond your normal boundaries. If I was freesailing I would not risk things or not try. It is worth the risk in this moment so that is when I go for it!
