JC – How is your windsurf centre / school doing?
BG – Windsurfing is a beautiful and fun sport with so much involved. The business has been hard to combine with that, especially when I want to just share sessions with people from around the world in my home spot. I just want to give away free sessions and discounts for everyone. My friend Soufian who works with me always gets pissed because I give away crazy discounts to everyone who asks and who doesn’t ask and it is not helping the business. So far I am not making a living whatsoever from my centre and also I am not investing enough time to promote and market it properly. I have a good range of new Starboard wave boards and Severne sails, I even have Blade Pro sails for special customers who want to spoil themselves riding the best gear in the world. In the future I hope I can dedicate more time to my business than I do to organizing a windsurfing event in Moulay. (Editor’s note – you can check out Boujmaa’s centre at www.boujxsports.com)
JC – Are many of the young kids in Moulay interested in windsurfing?
BG – All the local kids are super keen to get into the water, but they need a good education and an understanding on how to approach the ocean and handle relatively fragile gear. In Moulay it is a small launch spot with rocks everywhere and they need to know how to treat the gear around rocks and how to stay safe etc., but the community is building every year, hopefully sooner we will have great talents coming out from Moulay or Morocco
in general.
