Timo was first on the water, hungry to shake of all those hours of driving with some adrenaline-filled Irish charging conditions. With the wind very cross-offshore and the waves holding-up with translucent curling lips, the order of the day was all-or-nothing big, smoking aerials. On his second wave of the session, Timo tacked onto a monster set and started flying down-the-line looking for the glory section. Sure enough he drove his Starboard Quad straight up into a pitching lip and launched into a massive air high above the cascading wave. Unfortunately he descended into the flats out in front of the wave as an avalanche of white water smashed down behind him, almost buckling his left ankle in the process. Moments later he was limping back up the beach with that pain-filled look on his face signalling that his sailing could be over for the rest of the trip. Disaster!
