GOLDEN HOUR
Back on dry land the sun glared into the line-up for the final hour casting a golden light right on cue with the premium conditions and hottest action. If you had asked me to script a more perfect day at Niton it would have been a tough challenge to outdo what I was witnessing right in front of my eyes; yep, we’d scored it! What a bonus session, straight off the plane, the crew all coming to my spot for a change and within twenty minutes after the session I could be back home in my own house with my wife and kids, no doubt with a hot meal on the table and icy colds in the fridge. Of course it would be rude not to stop for a quick pint at the Buddle Inn at the top of the hill from Niton on the way back! This is the perfect ‘oldie woldy’ pub with flagstone paving, a hearty open fire and a special deal on my favourite Ventnor bitter, just to put the icing on the cake for a perfect day on the Isle of Wight. The banter went down, good times were had, my car started first time and the boys caught their ferry with 1 minute to spare, all ecstatic from their session at Niton.
TO GOOD TO BE TRUE!
Elated from an awesome day at my favourite local beach, I drove back home with my cameras still smoking from heavy usage and memory cards loaded with solid action. Every aspect of the day so far had gone right, the way things had played out was almost defying belief. As I trundled up the lane in a state of contentment to my house, I spotted a ‘For Sale’ sign outside; ‘What the heck!’ is going on, I stuttered in a state of utter panic. Up at the front door I put my key into the lock, but nope, it didn’t fit! The day it all went right, was suddenly over!
