I’ve known Ross and Jack for years. Ross has always been abroad and never around much in the UK to sail with and Jack works full time. So to have both of them ready to go all the way to the Outer Hebrides made the trip that much more special. The forecast just kept getting better and better. Meanwhile, after having a brief chat with Timo on Skype, it seemed he was ready to ditch Maui and join up with us guys to Lewis. Crazy.
It was reassuring though that Timo, who has been there many times, was confident enough to fly back from the other side of the world for this forecast. Meeting him fresh off the plane at Heathrow, he arrived at the train station with the heating on maximum and sporting a vest. I’m not sure if he’d quite snapped out of Maui mode. On our way up we managed to convince the Scottish photographer Ian MacNicol to join our trip.
