After the bridge session, we explored Islamorada, the actual ground-zero where the 1935 ‘Labour Day’ Hurricane hit, almost wiping this Key off the face of the planet.
On this particular Key, you didn’t have to pay to park, but pay to ‘enter the water’, with one of the local Kitesurfing Schools taking twenty dollars for the privilege…ouch! One less beer each for the evening! We managed to score a great sunset session in beside another of the concrete bridges forming the US-1 Highway, only coming off the water when we realised the local fishermen were catching decent sized SHARKS in the boats next to our speed strip and letting them go back in to the water to come after us!
