I’d noticed Carter was looking nervous about the light most of the way down, but suddenly it was game on. We literally had to force ourselves off the water as it was so clear and the 25-knot winds so inviting and warm, we wanted to sail all afternoon! But we were on a time-limit for this adventure, so it was de-rig and back in the truck, to see if we could find one of these railroad bridges to shoot next. Luckily the Ford F150 can boost from 0-60 in a mere 5.8 seconds, although those pesky one-lane roads were perilously frustrating with slow-crawling traffic. Finally we found our ideal location in the Bahia Honda State Park, where we spotted a glorious section of abandoned railway bridge, built by Braun from wrought-iron steel and partially destroyed during the 1935 Hurricane. With some sections removed entirely from the bridge, from the land it seemed quite possible we could sail right underneath it. All we needed was our accident-prone photographer to climb to the very top of it with his bag of lenses, I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
