I’d asked the boys to research the trip down to the Keys – a string of small causeway and bridge-linked sandy islands – but as far as I could make out most of their investigations had been in the bars and nightclubs at South Beach. So blindly we fired up the 6.2 litre V8 with all 411 BHP roaring away and headed towards the Florida Keys to windsurf around the most southernmost point in the USA. They’d literally brought one board one sail and one mast each. So with a 9.5 m rig apiece and huge boards we set out to windsurf in whatever conditions Florida could throw our way. We left Miami at 8am with the skyline shrouded under a blanket of thick grey clouds that had me worrying that the weather was not going to co-operate.
