PRESS RELEASE:
Ticket line open for the National Watersports Festival 2017.
Tickets for the National Watersports Festival at Rutland Water Park are now on sale for a packed weekend of windsurfing and stand up paddle boarding, over the weekend of the 2 – 4th June. Tickets can be purchased at www.nationalwatersportsfestival.com

Now in its 11th year, the iconic watersports event has moved from Hayling Island, Hampshire to its new home at Rutland Water Park in the East Midlands, which is set in its own beached area with full access to the water, providing a perfect amphitheatre for spectators.

The NWF promises a spectacular three day, non-stop festival of racing, taster sessions for beginners, ‘celeb’ Team Riders and pros, floodlit freestyle displays, clinics, a huge trade show for visitors and the legendry live music and partying, synonymous with the event.

The event is regarded as ‘the peoples’ festival’ as the regular ‘weekend warrior’ gets the chance to race alongside legends of the sports. Everyone is welcome regardless of experience, their ‘kit’ or what their van looks like!

Previous years have seen the event peak at close to 500 competitors, with the water a mass of sails, colour and action, with around 10,000 spectators creating a chilled festival vibe and a haven for watersport enthusiasts.

Tickets can be purchased for the whole weekend, for camping, day time tickets or for entrance to the evening parties.

The event is supported by Anglian Water, which is helping organisers move the event up to the next level while still encouraging new people to the event and into the sports. Allan Cross, event director explains: “We’re really chuffed to be bringing the NWF to Rutland Water Park and thank Anglian Waters and all our supporters for making this venue our fantastic new home. “With the event now in its 11th year, we’re keen as ever to get people out and competing on the water, with racing for all levels from beginners to pros. We want to encourage people to join in and learn whilst they’re on the water and get involved with the very varied clinics and coaching sessions which are available over the course of the weekend. Bring your club down and join in and help us to make the next decade of the NWF as successful as the first.”

Visitors will be able to wonder around the trade show and find out about all the latest products and gear, demo the kit, plus meet the individuals behind the sports and their world champion level riders. ‘Have a go sessions’ will enable complete rookies to sign up and get a taste for windsurfing or stand up paddle boarding, then head to the various ‘clinics’ where pros will be giving free talks and demonstrations on everything from ‘perfecting race starts’ to ‘freestyle techniques’.

Rutland Water Park is a renowned destination in its own right and its varied attractions will also help encourage people along for the whole weekend or just the day. There are a host of activities for the whole family from rock climbing, cycling and crazy golf to fishing, children’s playgrounds or a cruiser trip around the reservoir aboard the Rutland Belle.

The NWF has new objectives and a new team driving the festival forwards. Whilst there will be many of the popular NWF ingredients from previous years the event promises a host of new activities and ideas. These will be released through its website, which has been updated to account for the Festival’s new chapterwww.nationalwatersportsfestival.com Tickets will be available from the website from 5th April.
