GIRLS ON TOUR: POZO IZQUIERDO

VOL.4

On Monday, July 14th, 2025, Pozo Izquierdo became the stage for the fourth edition of Girls on Tour… an all-women windsurfing gathering which brought together over 40 female riders for an unforgettable session of progression, connection and good times on the water. With Pauline Katz organizing and the likes of Daida Moreno, Sarah Quita Offringa and Justyna Sniady as coaches lets hear about this unforgettable experience.

Launched in 2022 by Pauline Katz, ‘Girls on Tour’ was born from a simple idea: to create a supportive space where women can learn from top athletes, challenge themselves, and celebrate windsurfing together.

Whether it was someone’s first session in Pozo or a rider dialling in her next forward loop, every participant was welcomed, encouraged, and coached by some of the best women windsurfers in the world.

After an opening meet-up by the statue of Daida Moreno, the riders split into smaller coaching groups led by Daida herself, along with Sarah-Quita Offringa, Justyna Sniady, Sol Degrieck, Pauline Katz and several other top-tier World Cup athletes.

The session focused on core skills like overcoming Pozo’s notorious shore break, reading the spot, jumping technique and wave riding.

For some, it was a first-ever go in Pozo’s powerful conditions, made possible by the encouragement and support of the coaching team. Others seized the moment to push their limits, attempt their first forward loop and soak up world-class feedback. The vibe on the beach was incredible: smiles all around, cheers from the shore and a shared passion for the sport.

SARAH QUITA OFFRINGA

“It was the 4th edition of the Girls on tour organised by Pauline Katz. Because it’s straight after the world cup it’s the perfect time to have the pros around! The idea was to get as many women on the water that day! The groups were separated in 1 Pozo first timers, 2. Wave riding, 3. Jumping

I was in charge of the jumping group together with Daida and Sol where we covered forward loops, backloops and push loops. I think these events are so great, because it really brings people together and in the case of some women, some might be a bit intimidated to get on the water at a spot like this, but going with some guidance makes it more accessible and fun. It was amazing to see the age difference as well, I think it must have ranged between 10 and 55 !

After the theory on land, we went on the water and everyone was cheering each other one. After the session the best part was the giveaway. It was like a game show haha Everybody got something. All in all we were about 40 women on the water and excitement was high! Thanks to Pauline for organising this and having us as coaches!”

Pauline Katz, founder of Girls on Tour:

“Events like this are crucial for women’s windsurfing. The energy was incredible, everyone was pushing themselves, supporting each other and simply enjoying being out there together. The atmosphere at a women’s event is always unique, and seeing over 40 women sailing in demanding conditions shows just how much women’s windsurfing is evolving.”

Girls on Tour Vol. 4 was proudly supported by Brunotti, Severne Windsurfing, Maui Ultra Fins, and Pozowinds, and beautifully captured by @rafasoulart, who has been documenting the journey since day one.
