Unifiber tell us about their new range of baseplates..
Unifiber has always offered the most diverse lineup of windsurfing baseplates, ranging from power type baseplates to tendon and cardan models.
Now, we are proud to introduce our own in-house designs, categorized into three types:
- Essentials
- HD
- Elite
Each successive model introduces new features and improvements upon those of the previous category.
Essentials
- Stainless Steel Moulded U-Pin -> safe connection
- Large Diameter Bolts -> no bolt stripping
- Spectra Rope -> up to 650 kg of breakload
- Superior price to quality ratio
The Essentials baseplate serves as the foundation of our baseplate range.
A high-quality TPU tendon is anchored by two large-diameter custom bolts.
The POK plastic baseplate is ergonomic and easy to unscrew, while the disk features an EVA underlayer and a guiding knob.
Top and bottom are connected with a Spectra safety rope.
By reducing the number of parts to the minimum, the baseplate has a low chance for any part to fail.

Building upon all the features present in the Essentials design, the HD adds two more.
A custom stainless steel cup nested in the base socket, housing the tendon connector. This way all metal components are interlinked, creating an uninterapted chain from the U-pin’s tip to the carriage bolt.
Each custom part – from the cup itself to u-pin to tendon connector – is molded, resulting in what stands as one of the strongest, if not the strongest, baseplates available on the market.
Activating the push-button will release the joint from the base, making it convenient for storage and transport.
The baseplate is designed for those who are constantly pushing their gear.

The Elite Baseplate inherits the robustness of the HD model while enhancing security and ease of use.
Its top-grade TPU tendon core can be effortlessly disassembled without the need for additional tools, allowing you to inspect the tendon anytime and anywhere
The POK plastic caps secure the tendon pins. They snap into place easily but cannot be moved while the baseplate is connected to the board/mast extension.

Tendon Core
The tendon, nestled between the stainless steel components of our baseplates, is a critical element. If it were to fail, the additional features would provide no comfort.
To ensure tendon’s enduring strength, we subjected it to rigorous testing over a 16-month period at a windsurfing center in Egypt. Known for its extreme temperatures and intense UV exposure, this testing environment confirmed the exceptional durability of the tendon, as no breakage occurred.
