WHITMORE BAY, BARRY ISLAND
Whitmore Bay, Barry Island. A long sweep of sands which faces S, it gets busy during summer, as it’s one of Barry’s favourite beaches. There is a large holiday camp at the E end. During summer weekends volunteer lifeguards patrol the beach. This could be a good beach for improvers in light SW winds though like all other beaches in this area the tidal rise is long and there are strong currents at certain states of the tide. Intermediate sailors tend to sail from Cold Knap .
