10 REASONS TO VISIT NWF 2-4 SEPT 2016 HAYLING ISLAND
The NWF team state their case –
“The National Watersports Festival (NWF) is the largest mass participation watersports event in the UK, with the core discipline being windsurfing. The festival has steadily grown over the years and now we celebrate our 10th Anniversary on 2-4 Sept 2016 at Hayling Island. So here are 10 reasons why every Windsurfer should attend;
1. The largest national windsurfing event designed around the intermediate windsurfer, with its unique split of 20% newcomer, 70% intermediate and 10% Pro.
2. The biggest trade show
3. The UK’s best windsurfing gurus delivering their clinics all under one NWF roof; Ant Baker, Colin Dixon, Jim Collis, Sam Ross, Phil & Danielle, Simon Bornhoft & Peter Hart.
4. Freestyle World Champion Dieter Van der Eyken and many other international celebrities.
5. Taster sessions offered on-site in Kayak, Sup & Windsurfing.
6. Camping on site throughout the weekend with a quieter area for families if required with onsite retail and food outlets.
7. Loads of fun activities on and off the water to keep the kids and big kids entertained too. A spot of paintball archery anyone?
8. You don’t need the latest equipment to come and join in the fun as there are classes for pre-1985, pre-millennium and fancy dress and also categories which cater for windsup and longboard too. Plus we cater for individual and team entries too. There is also a discounted entry option available for a limited period for festival experience tickets and NWF T-shirts and hoodies.
9. There is a separate Junior section; that’s right the NWF is not just for the adults, many of our emerging national stars started in the NWF Junior ranks many moons ago.
10. The atmosphere, that’s right us windsurfers love our sport either on or off the water, so there is a real community buzz in the air and this year we will have live music throughout the weekend. Plus our legendary parties on both Fri & Sat night and this year’s fancy dress theme for Sat is pirates!
Format
There will be a series of master blaster races ( Beachstart out to a buoy and back to the beach) With 2 x fleets – a National Fleet (Those who have raced on the national circuit) and freeride fleet (This is by far the biggest fleet and for those who have no national racing experience)
There will be prizes awarded after each race so you are not disadvantaged if you don’t do all the races.
There will also be freestyle competition with a night time element.
Long distance racing.
So why not come and join the NWF birthday celebrations or even better organise a road trip with your colleagues or club members and join in the fun like hundreds of other windsurfers do each year!”
