BANTHAM
On the other side of the Avon Estuary the beach is reached from Bantham village. There’s a car park at the bottom of a steep lane. The launch point is to the left of the bathing area and leads out to the most consistent breaks and the strongest currents. If you’re sailing in the centre of the bay keep close to the river mouth to avoid bathers, though in stronger winds that isn’t a problem. The river Avon generates the biggest currents in the bay and well worth avoiding when it’s running fast.
