CARNOUSTIE
You probably associate Carnoustie with its golf club, but it also has a less famous sailing club with access to the ESE facing sandy beach. It’s right on the edge of the Firth of Tay, which itself is a popular sailing area. The beach works well in a range of wind directions including anything with S in it, although NE’s tend to be gusty. There is a Coast Guard station right on the beach but avoid golf tournament times as the place gets packed and there is no accommodation available except at sky high prices.
