AVAILABLE ON

GWITHIAN

If you are looking for down-the-line wave sailing in this country, look no further. Depending on the size of the swell, low to half tide gives quite safe riding. The closer it gets to high tide the more vicious the shore dump gets. When the sea reaches the rocks in front of the car park, it’s time to move on to either Godrevy lighthouse or the Red River. SW and SSW winds are best for port tack jumping and backside wave riding. You will also get some riding in a NE but when it’s flat try blasting across the whole of St Ives Bay but launching from the Godrevy car park, just east of the Red River instead. Getting from the Gwithians car park can be tricky if you use the ‘goat track’, but there is a less steep but longer path also.
