MAIDENS
An hour and three quarters drive from Glasgow, Maidens, like Girvan attracts many tourists in the summer months – remember you’re in Burns country, the tourist trade won’t let you forget it round here. The village gets its name from treacherous rocks just offshore. The beach itself is pebble and sand with high cliffs surrounding some way back from the beach. The best wind direction is SW giving a mild shore break, a strong SW waves will wrap around giving good riding conditions in the early and latter months of the year. Good for first time sea sailors in summer, with great views of Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.
