With very shallow water and few waves, Silloth is the ideal location to practice water starts. Stronger winds can creates short, sharp chop that is perfect for an introduction into bump and jump sailing. However, this beach is very tidal and the speed the tide goes out can catch even the most experienced sailors unawares, so remember to keep your eye on the speed of the water.
