THE LEAS SOUTH SHIELDS
There are two main places to sail in The Leas South Shields. The first is to the S of the small headland and called Marsden Bay. Close to the shore the wind can be gusty in anything other than a N to SE. Further N, close to the mouth of the Tyne another similar beach offers almost identical conditions except that the gustiness of the offshore wind is caused not by cliffs but by buildings.
