TIREE
Probably the most famous sailing spot in the UK and respected in Europe as well. Tiree is reached by ferry from Oban and takes around four hours sailing time. The ferries are infrequent, but the island offers fantastic sailing conditions for beginners to expert and it has been the home of the top wavesailing event in the UK for years. You can learn to sail on the Loch throughout the summer months or sail at the Maze (W facing), Crossapol (S facing), Gott Bay (S – W facing), Ballavuihlin (NW facing), The Green (NNW facing), the farmer’s permission is needed to drive down the track to the beach, Travee (SW facing), Balephetrish (N facing), Double Trouble, an inner and outer reef, best in a S – SW wind, found just off Balephetrish to the N of the Island.
