Whitby Sands and the more sailable Sandsend Wyke to the W both face N. As this two mile beach is flanked by cliffs it’s best sailed in W to E. If sailing in W, launch closer to Whitby as the headland at Sandsend Ness is a barrier to clean wind. In stronger winds with N, there’s some good wave sailing to be had here.
