On the other side of the Hayle Estuary, Carbis Bay’s wave is gentler and suitable for good intermediates. It works in NW wind, which can be slightly unpredictable on the inside. The shorebreak is quite harsh here but it’s a very good spot when conditions are extreme elsewhere.

Getting there: From the A3074 head for the railway station, then take the beach road over the railway bridge.

Parking: Pay & Display

Ideal Wind: NW

Accommodation: Two caravan sites on the outskirts of town, plus B&B

Suitable for: Good intermediates
