DENMARK COLD HAWAII PWA 2016 AGGER SESSION

After the closing ceremony of this year’s PWA Cold Hawaii world cup in Klitmoller a few sailors made a mad dash south to Agger after word spread that the conditions were on. The spot is about a forty minute drive from the event HQ across a causeway before you reach the parking. From the car park it’s a bit of a trek across the dunes before you reach a huge break-wall which helps clean up the waves at the sailing location. Light south east winds and head high waves were enough to attract the likes of current world tour leader Victor Fernandez, Alex Mussolini, Jaeger Stone, Dieter Van Der Eyken, Flo Jung and Marc Pare. Normally in this direction Agger is renowned for rainy weather but ‘Cold Hawaii’ was far from the event title suggests with Denmark delivering warm temperature and sunny skies. Conditions were ‘on the edge’ but after a frustrating week without any official competition, sailors were hungry to make the most of the clean waves and side offshore winds. John Carter hit the road to hunt down the PWA pro’s and managed to catch the last hour of action before the wind dropped with this exclusive gallery. Next stop on the PWA tour is Sylt which starts on Friday and the word on the street is that a big storm is hitting Klitmoller Wednesday and Thursday and a lot of the sailors will stay in the area to score the conditions before heading to Germany.

Victor Fernandez: “Agger was very fun, I did not expect such decent waves on the Sunday evening after the event. I´ve sailed this spot three times before and it is quite impressive to see how the conditions change from one spot to another on the same day. I sailed on my 5.3 Hero and my 90 litre Quad. There was plenty of wind at the start but in the end it dropped. I love conditions like this, it feels like pure surfing and I can feel how my board and sail work together”
