North America’s largest windsurfing event – OBX-WIND 2018 – went off from April 14th to 21st at Ocean Air Sports in Avon, North Carolina in the U.S. 242 competitors were on the start line of the signature long distance race and the fun didn’t stop there. The organizers also had a freestyle competition and slalom races. Everyone in town was able to windsurf the reliable winds that Cape Hatteras is known for. There was wind for every day that OBX-WIND ran. “Welcome to Hatteras” was the common phrase that newcomers were hearing from those that have visited the Outer Banks before.
