SURF CLUB KEROS: KEROS BEACH, LIMNOS, GREECE.
The Low Down:
Keros beach is a 3 km wide sandy and safe bay, offering excellent conditions for beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. The shallow turquoise waters provide an excellent learning terrain, with the extra element of safety adding to the experience. The centre is right on the beach, offering brand new equipment and high level services.
Conditions and when to go:
June, July, August and the beginning of September are when you get classic Greek summer conditions, with blue skies, sun, and the local Meltemi winds. Mid-September and October are also windy, with possible stronger winds, or the first south winds of the season kicking in (warmer winds and some playful waves showing up).
Local spots:
Keros bay is so big that it can feature many different conditions at once. On the north end of the bay you get a protected super flat section with amazing turquoise water. In front of the Surf Club Keros station you get flat water to start with, with some small easy waves or chop the further out you go. Further down, towards the south side of the bay, you get small but nicely spaced out waves, a great introductory spot for wave sailing. Knee to waist-deep water where the waves break make it even more fun!
About the centre:
A completely redesigned and eco-friendly station full of brand new RRD equipment awaits you in 2022. More than 60 boards and 80 sails rigged with 80% carbon RDM masts are available for you to test them, no matter what your riding level. Right next to the centre you can find the “Hungry Local” beach bar that serves coffee, drinks, snacks and healthy meals.
Where to stay:
Surf Club Keros provides luxurious glamping style accommodation about 400 m from the beach. In the facilities you will find a Mediterranean style restaurant, Spa, yoga and kids club services. A free shuttle bus will take you to the centre if you choose not to walk or ride a bike.
