RRD FIRE MOVE 110L LIMITED 2013 TEST REVIEW

THE LOW-DOWN
The FireMove was introduced to the RRD line up last year as a brand new short-and-wide concept shape designed to fit in-between the freewave and freeride categories as all-round, fast and manoeuvrable freemove boards. We tested the LTD construction but the FireMove is also available in two other durable constructions to suit all budgets.

AT-A-GLANCE

Subtle double concave hull

Carbon LTD construction

PERFORMANCE
The stability underfoot is good despite being the lowest volume board on test as the float is positioned perfectly into the short and wide shape. The added width is highly efficient at getting you up-and-planing early, accelerating rapidly towards an impressive top speed. The ride from the straps is very comfortable from either the inboard or outboard positions dependant on your style. The Firemove is extremely well-controlled in all conditions, riding loose and high over chop.  But it’s through carving manoeuvres that it handles best, with a superbly playful nature thanks to the thin rails that grip regardless of how hard you load them up through the turn.

THE VERDICT
The RRD Firemove is a highly versatile manoeuvre-orientated freeride board that delivers a great level of performance in a wide range of conditions. Whether your focus is on speed or manoeuvrability, this board is simply great fun to ride. Perfect for someone looking for just one board offering the control and manoeuvrability of a freestyle-wave board without sacrificing pace. Highly recommended for all levels.
