Today Tiree delivered the goods with an action packed day of drama from dawn ‘til dusk at the Maze. Competitors gathered at 7.30 am in the pouring rain as wild winds lashed Tiree and brought cross shore conditions and head to logo high waves at the Maze. Adam Lewis emerged victor in the single elimination in the pros while Sarah Holder was victorious in the women’s division. With the wind still howling but swinging more onshore it was decided to continue straight into the double elimination where Marc Pare of Spain produced an incredible comeback to fight through and beat Lewis twice in the double elimination to finish the day on top. Sarah Hilder defended her position in the women’s double beating Sarah Kellet, while Luke Raistrick won the amateurs and John McLawrence won the masters. In the men’s pro division Adam Lewis had to settle for second, with Ben Proffitt third and Phil Horrocks fourth.  Check out our exclusive gallery of shots our man on the ground – John Carter.

From www.facebook.com/tireewaveclassic/ – “Day 3 Action – Tuesday 16/10/18
(Apologies to all for late posting!)

12 hours of non stop action!

From day break the single elimination for all fleets kicked off in strong (3.7m) fully powered, cross shore conditions with head high powerful waves.

Single eliminations were completed for all fleets with 8 minute heats & competitors best two jumps and two wave rides to be counted.

To say that the action was high standard would be a massive understatement. Across the board, every fleet exhibited the highest standard we have seen in UK wavesailing to date. Particularly the men’s pro division being noteworthy with a host of past British tour winners and past Tiree champs as well as a number of PWA World tour riders displaying a standard of sailing, previously unseen in UK waters.

At the end – there can be only one winner in each fleet and of the overall competition. Here are the results for the Men’s and Ladies Professional categories…

1st pro men’s – Marc Paré Rico – E·334
2nd pro men’s – Adam Lewis
3rd pro men’s – Ben Proffitt

1st pro ladies – Sarah Hilder
2nd pro ladies – Sara Kellett
3rd pro ladies – Rosemary Smith

The results for other fleets will follow later today.”
