A ten-minute drive from Penzance towards Helston along the A394 brings you to Praa Sands where basking sharks, seals and dolphins can occasionally be seen just off the beach. This location gives excellent cross-shore wave sailing in WNW or E to SE. Very much a local effect, it can be blowing its socks off here and flat calm a few miles away. Winds can be quite gusty with a very strong powerful wave and the usual severe shore dump at high tide. Zoning for watersports activities are in place.
