On the Lizard’s East coast is the beautiful Helford Passage. This creek is perfect for beginners to learn and intermediates improve in relative security. Windsurfers should watch out for other water users as the area is very popular with cruising and small sailing enthusiasts and there are many powered craft. You’ll have to dodge past moored boats and many are in front of the Ferryboat Inn, a very popular launch spot. Durgan beach is slightly less crowded but involves a short walk down to the beach from the road. Parking in summer can be difficult. With the creek lying E – W these winds are obviously the most consistent. Most other wind directions result in gusty, messy winds. You can also launch from the South side of the Helford at St Anthony-in-Meneage.
