There are two villages called ‘Minster’ in Kent. This one is on the Isle of Sheppey, E of Sheerness and it’s where most local windsurfers sail from. There’s plenty of parking, rescue facilities operate throughout the year by the local club (Tel: 01795 873003) and the beach is shared with the local dinghy and catamaran sailors. The Shingle Bank is three quarters of a mile long with little or no shore dump. NW to SE winds give chop or small waves, SW (Offshore) results in flat water but offshore sailing. An orange flag flies when the boat is on station and club members cars have signs so you can approach them for information, which is gladly given.

Getting there: Cross the Kingsferry Bridge on the A249 from Sittingbourne, turn right at the roundabout then first left, following the signs

Ideal Wind: NW to SE
