JW MARRIOT MAURITIUS RESORT
LE MORNE, MAURITIUS

THE LOWDOWN
Mauritius is one of the most accessible long-haul destinations from Europe, with only a minor time difference, and direct overnight flights from many airports including London, Paris and Frankfurt. Mauritius is also exceptional value of money, especially as the ‘wind season’ is when the hotel prices are at their lowest!

LOCAL SPOTS
For those staying at the luxurious JW Marriott Mauritius Resort, access to all the spots is especially easy, with the ION Windsurf and Wingfoil Centre right next to the property. Beginners can take lessons in the safe, shallow lagoon, under the supervision of expert instructors. For freestylers the huge lagoon is a paradise. For small waves ‘Little Reef’ is a super easy spot. For the brave, head outside the reef, and the epic big wave spots of Manawa and ‘One Eye’ beckon.

CONDITIONS AND WHEN TO GO
The wind season is June to December, with the prime wind month being July to October. The temperature is 25c – 32c, getting warmer towards the end of the year. This is a great spot to avoid the extreme European heat in the summer months.

ABOUT THE CENTRE
The ION Windsurf and Wingfoil Centre is at the end of JW Marriott beach, which is stocked with the latest Duotone equipment. For no wind days they also have SUP and Surf boards, free to use for those that have pre-booked rental.

WHERE TO STAY
The ideal place to stay is JW Marriott, both in term of quality and location. It is best to book via Planet Windsurf as they have a long-standing relationship with the property and are able to offer exclusive discounts prices for windsurfers. They also offer alternate 3 and 4 star hotels as well as a stunning four bedroom villa.
