ION CLUB
CABARETE, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

THE LOW DOWN:

Flat and choppy water on one hand, swell and waves on the other, leaves nothing to wish for. The variety of the spot is truly unique. Numerous possibilities and excursion programs makes Cabarete also an interesting destination for families.

CONDITIONS AND WHEN TO GO:

Wind is modest in the morning and gains 4-5 Bft from midday. May – October: wind blows sideshore from the right (best June – September). November – April: wind blows cross-offshore from the right and is less constant. At this time, the conditions are perfect for intermediate wave riders and wave freaks (best January – March).

LOCAL SPOT:

The centre is situated upwind in the bay of Cabarete at the ‘Plaza Carib Wind’. The offshore reef is about 600 metres off the beach and flat water stretching between. Beneath shady palm trees it offers a cosy chill out area overlooking the ocean.

ABOUT THE CENTRE:

Located 50 metres from the shore in the wind-shadow, allowing windsurfers to start directly from the centre. Upwind of the centre there is a shallow water section where beginners and intermediates feel comfortable and the tuition conditions are excellent. Beginners and intermediates can practice close to the shore while more experienced windsurfers can conquer the waves on the reef.

WHERE TO STAY:

There are several nice accommodations such as Resort Velero Beach, Hotel Viva Wyndham Tangerine or Hotel Villa Taina. Nice apartments to stay are Apartment El Magnifico or Apartment La Punta. See more details and offers on www.ion-club.net
