FANATIC STINGRAY FOIL LTD 115 2023 TEST REVIEW

The Verdict

Fanatic’s Stingray Foil LTD is a board that can truly be set up for any riding style. With its multiple footstrap options, large deckpad and long mast track, the Stingray opens up a range of options when foiling.

The Lowdown

Produced for both wind foiling and wing foiling, the Fanatic Stingray Foil LTD is a versatile board designed to offer riders the shot at a one-board foiling quiver.

The Stingray Foil LTD boasts a shorter freeride/foiling performance shape and is fitted with both a track system and a Tuttle box, so it can be used with a range of foils.

A large deck pad covers the entire stance area, offering ample space for both wind and wing foiling. Convenience is key with the addition of a mini carry handle on the bottom for easy handling and transportation. Wing foilers will appreciate the leash plug on the deck and multiple footstrap options cater to different foiling preferences. The board displays parallel rails to enhance the board’s acceleration, along with an extra long mast track that accommodates a wide variety of sail types and styles, ensuring the right trim no matter the style or sail size. Finally, Fanatic has added their Premium footstraps for maximum comfort and easy adjustments.

Brand Claim

“The Stingray Foil LTD closes the gap between Wind Foiling and Wing Foiling! Use a wing in lower wind ranges and switch to a regular windsurf rig when the wind picks up or vice versa depending on your preferences? No problem, the Stingray Foil LTD is up for everything!”

Performance

One of the standout features of the Stingray Foil LTD is its long mast track, which simplifies setup for different sail sizes and riding styles. This user-friendly design ensures that riders can easily fine-tune their set-up. The parallel outline of the Stingray Foil LTD contributes to a smooth and gradual transition onto the foil, and the streamlined shape and compact design allows riders to whip the board around effortlessly through turns. Its playful design encourages riders to try some light freestyle moves from duck gybes to downwind 360s, all the while inspiring riders with a level of confidence and control. As one of the smaller boards on test, the board’s reduced swing weight becomes noticeable in all manoeuvres, making control a simple task. The Stingray Foil LTD is perfect for a summer day cruise, providing a level of comfort and ease of use that makes you feel like you can sail for hours on end. Whilst the Stingray’s first feedback points are flowing and cruisy, its wide design and outboard footstrap positions allow riders to find a locked-in position for those hunting for speed too.
