WING SURFING PRODUCT GUIDE 2020: RRD

From our September issue here is our RRD Wing Surfing product guide:

THEY SAY – “Our ‘Wind Wing’ is super small when packed because we want to travel as light as possible. We have worked a lot on the leading edge to get it stiff and with the correct vee shape to avoid the wing wanting to roll from side to side once riding it depowered. Our ‘Wind Wing’ has a good amount of power, but is still very controllable with stronger wind. We have two different profiles. The 3 and 4 have the middle strut directly attached to the body to have more top-end potential. The 5 and 6 are for lighter winds or bigger riders, so have a much better low-end. The middle strut is more distant and connected through a canopy fabric to the body to get more power in your pumping. We have added a second valve (the dump valve) on the main strut to be able to deflate it very quickly and pack it up small. With this wing you can ride any condition as it has the widest wind range to allow you to have fun anytime.

The best board option for learning wing foiling with the ‘Wind Wing’ is the ‘Pocket Rocket’ or the ‘High Flight’, which are very easy to get going for first-timers. Our new ‘Beluga’ is our first pure dedicated wing foil board which comes in 2 versions, the 170 (105 litres) and the 160 (75 litres). It has a compact shape packed with volume. The 170 has a sleek approach to lighter winds and the easiest takeoff. The 160 feels more free and manoeuvrable, making it your preferred all-rounder. Both models are fun to ride, both in flat water and in waves. The rails have a pronounced bevel and the kicker on the tail makes you fly in no time when pumping it and helps keep control during your tricks. The multiple front strap options (double or single front positioning) let you get the most out of your style of riding. It comes in 2 technologies and price levels; the LTD with biaxial innegra carbon deck and glass bottom and the E-TECH with glass epoxy skin top and bottom. The Beluga gives you all the performance needed to progress and to push beyond your level.

The Universal KSH-Alu set is the tool to enter the wing foiling dimension. The combination of a 75 cm aluminium mast and a fuselage of 76 cm creates a good balance to help learn jibes and tacks the easy way, as well as pumping on flat water or small groundswell. The front wing is the engine of the whole system with its extra thick profile and an 82 cm wingspan to create the right lift to start foiling at 4 knots board speed when pumping! The rear wing is 52 cm

wide and has a negative dihedral angle. This angled wing design improves the “pumping” ability of the foil. WING, SURF, KITE or SUP foil with only ONE hydrofoil!”
